Goddess Temple e-course

Session I – The Triple Goddess - March 4 – 31

In the ancient temples devoted to the goddesses, the priestesses were mortal women who were initiated to learn the mysteries, keep the fire burning, and serve the goddess. They helped people understand themselves through understanding the goddesses. They accepted offerings and gifts on behalf of the goddess and bestowed wisdom from the goddess to those who sought answers.

In this sacred temple, we will all be acting as priestesses, stoking the flames, creating the altar, and performing rituals of self-discovery and self-care to honor the goddess within each of us.

Welcome to the Goddess Temple, where you will meet and work with the goddesses from In the Lap of the Goddess: Connecting With the Divine Feminine.

In this first 4-week course offering, we will get to know The Triple Goddess within each of us. Virtually every culture and tradition has a triple goddess, which can represent many things, but most commonly symbolizes the maiden, mother and crone, three stages of a woman’s life and psyche.

In this course we will be getting to know the Greek goddesses, Persephone, the maiden, Demeter, the mother, and Hecate, the crone, each of which has a rich story surrounding her and important lessons to teach us. As priestesses, we will be initiated into the mysteries of these powerful goddesses.

We will use the workbook pages to guide us through the week, which involves journal writing, answering questions, creating art, altars and ritual, and sharing our thoughts, feelings and stories along the way in the Goddess Temple, created as a private Facebook group. Together we will explore the magic and mysteries of these goddesses as we see them reflected in ourselves.

Week 1

The first week we will be working with Persephone, the maiden, who represents birth, spring, planting seeds, the new moon, and the onset of a journey. The maiden starts out innocent, but as she descends into the underworld, she learns her power and becomes queen, able to move fluidly between the upper and lower worlds. We will explore how we can learn to do this in our own lives, transforming lessons and gifts received in the inner darkness into valuable resources in the outer world. Persephone’s tools have to do with learning new ways and transforming negative into positive.

Week 2

In the second week, we will meet Demeter, the mother, who uses her gifts of fertility, creativity and productivity to achieve her goals. She is associated with summer and autumn harvest, the full moon, the active phase of life — engaging, cultivating and doing. But at the same time, she must learn to let go and know what she can control and what she cannot. Demeter’s lessons have to do with bringing forth our creations, nurturing ourselves, and balancing our energies.

Week 3

The third week will be spent with Hecate, the mystical witch/crone, who helped the grieving Demeter find Persephone after she was abducted into the underworld. Hecate is a mediating force, our intuitive, knowing self, that helps us find peace, know when to rest, and stir up magic, too. She represents wisdom gained through experience. As goddess of the dark moon and winter, she helps us with change, endings, dormancy, and death so as to be reborn. Her lessons have to do with acknowledging our gifts and owning our power.

Week 4

The fourth week will be about integrating these triple goddess aspects and what it means to cycle through these phases, just as the moon does. During this week we will take a journey to meet our own inner triple goddess, crossing the threshold into the past, present and future. Before we leave the temple during this last week we will look into how the energies of the triple goddess interact, determine what phase we may be in at this point in our lives. We will share our understanding of ourselves as maidens, mothers and crones and what we have learned about ourselves over these four weeks, equivalent to a one-month lunar cycle, in the temple.

Extras

Each week we will be creating an altar at home as we work with the energies of the goddess of that week, culminating in the integrated triple goddess altar. Every person enrolled in the class will receive by mail a triptych and a 5×8 mat board and encouraged to create images of one or more aspects of the triple goddess. You will receive as well a secret message from one of the goddesses just for you.

We will be able to share our altars and goddess images with one another in our private Goddess Temple Facebook group.

This 4-week e-course includes the 30-page Triple Goddess e-book, taken from the workbook, In the Lap of the Goddess, which will be available for download when you register. (If you’ve already purchased the workbook, you receive a $12 discount on this session.)
